Frequently Asked Questions

What You Want to Know

We know that choosing a dentist—and understanding your dental care—can come with questions. At Cornell Dental Centre, we believe informed patients feel more comfortable and confident about their care.

Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

Yes! Cornell Dental Centre welcomes new patients, families and referrals. Whether you’re looking for a new family dentist in Markham, it’s been a while since your last dental visit, or you’re looking for a practice for your entire family, we’d be happy to welcome you.

We accept most dental insurance plans and can submit eligible claims electronically on your behalf when permitted by your insurance provider. If you have coverage through the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), please contact our office to discuss your eligibility and coverage details.

Because every insurance plan is different, we recommend confirming your specific benefits and coverage directly with your insurance provider. Our team is happy to help you navigate the process.

If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, contact Cornell Dental Centre as soon as possible. We offer emergency dental care and, whenever possible, will do our best to accommodate urgent and same-day appointments.

Whether you’re experiencing a toothache, dental injury, broken tooth or another urgent concern, our goal is to assess the problem, address your immediate needs and determine the appropriate next steps.

Regular dental visits are an important part of maintaining healthy teeth and gums. For many patients, dental examinations and professional cleanings are recommended approximately every six months, although your ideal schedule depends on your individual oral health needs.

During your visits, we can monitor your oral health, identify potential concerns early and provide personalized recommendations for maintaining your smile.

There are many ways to enhance the appearance of your smile, depending on your goals and oral health. Cosmetic dental options may include professional teeth whitening, tooth-coloured fillings, veneers, crowns and other restorative treatments.

At Cornell Dental Centre, we focus on creating natural-looking results that complement your smile rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. We’ll discuss your goals and help you understand which options may be right for you.
